The site was a hill with an 8' elevation change. At the top of the hill is the driveway and at the bottom is a brick patio, with an elevated wood deck between the two. We used the hill to create a cascading waterfall with a 16' stream. The falls and stream leading to the pond present a wonderful view from the deck. A path leads from the brick patio across a small stone bridge to the yard.

This picture shows the lower level of the pond, stream, and falls. The deck and patio are brought together by the water feature and offer an interesting view of the feature. To give a more natural appearance and to give the edges of the pond more support, we now use field stone in the ponds, as shown here.
Here water flows from the upper pool into the falls area, creating wonderful visual and sound effects. The upper pool is filled with cannas, black taro, umbrella plant, and water hyacinths. All these plants are appealing to the eye and act as a biological filter.
Notice the clear water. (The black rectangular area is the reflection of the deck.) You can see the koi, goldfish and gravel on the bottom. This is typical of every water feature we build.
